The heart of the power industry is the fossil fuel power station. Fossil Fuel power stations burn fossil fuels such as coal, natural gas, and oil to produce electricity. The vast majority of the world’s power stations are fueled by coal (approximately 41 percent).
One of the greatest hazards of a coal-fired power station is the by-product created while producing electricity: coal ash, which is also referred to as CCB (coal conduction by-product). To ensure that the contaminants in the coal ash do not enter and contaminate the surrounding ground water and soil, a geosynthetic liner must be placed by a qualified installer inside and over the CCB disposal area at the beginning and final stages of the disposal area.
